Waking up, the feeling of being slowly engulfed by mushy morass persists. Buried beneath your blankets, the dampened sounds of Sha’s humming bass clarinet and the maroon voice of Delia Meshlir reach your ears. You are too far away to make out the lyrics, but the voice tells you this is fine. You don’t want to leave the warmth of your bed. It is too bright outside. Curling up and pressing down, you feel like a piece of forgotten laundry. It is bliss. No one needs to know you are here. The pull is too strong. The bass clarinet’s ambient drone loops and their ominously woven melodies tug you out of the swampy beyond. You listen carefully, trying to determine where the music is coming from. Your eyes wander. There is a new door in the wall of your bedroom. You have never seen it before. Where does it lead? The door is covered in thick fur. It bristles and moves slightly, as if breath runs through it. Any minute now, the alarm clock is going to tell you to tackle the day’s duties. You don’t need to leave. There is still music coming from the other side of that door.
